Community Mobilization

Most service-oriented organizations recognize the importance of community involvement. However, the art of encouraging community members to take an active role in projects or treatment can be a frustrating process. This workshop focuses on the “how-to’s” of setting up a community supported project. A key focus will be on initiating, sustaining and evaluating community mobilization projects. To enhance the learning experience, participants will be asked to apply community mobilization theories to a current work or community project.

Objectives:

    1. Practice using the four-step model of effective community mobilization.
    2. Discuss prevention strategies and risk assessments as they relate to community mobilization.
    3. Discuss several methods to evaluate effective community mobilization projects.
